Growing Together

Connecting Generations
in Authentic Community
Growing Toward Christlikeness
Becoming Missional People

Imagine a place where you and your family experience all that God intended when he created us for each other. What would that kind of place look like? We believe it looks like the four phrases of our vision above.

All about relationships

Being a follower of Christ is all about relationships-- a relationship with God, and relationships with others. The New Testament is full of word pictures and commands that teach us the importance of community. The phrase solo-Christian is a contradiction in the minds of the authors of the New Testament.

Come on In!

Make Your Family At Home Home...

blueprintThe meaning of that word is deeper than any dictionary can classify. It implies warmth and belonging. Various rooms summon their own emotions and suggest their own activities. The bonds of a church community are also deeper than words, and have much in common with the idea of family. So, when we describe our plans for fellowship, discipleship, and life giving community it is appropriate to use the rooms of a home to symbolize the design of each areas. What follows describes four "rooms" that link to the goals of our vision statement above. Our desire is that you find yourself at home among the people here. We hope you have been warmly greeted on the Front Porch, but before too long, you make your way to the Great Room, and that all of us would make regular visits to the Kitchen.

Front Porch

Welcoming Our Neighbors

A front porch suggests meeting new friends, sipping lemonade together, and welcoming family home. Our goal is an environment where everyone is warmly cared for.

All Church Activities: Summer BBQ's, Potlucks, Valentine's Banquet... things to which you feel comfortable inviting friends. Most every month we have some all church activity that brings the whole family together. In the summer time we shoot for twice a month out on the water. These activities always give us an opportunity to make new friends and catch up with those we haven't talked to in a while.

Great Room

A Place To Gather

great_room In our great rooms we gather with family and friends. We invite those on the front porch in to take off their coats and stay a while. We share a meal and get to know each other better, finding out what we have in common, and learning about opportunities to share the activities, thrills and sometimes disappointments of life.Examples: Great Room opportunities at our church are frequent and diverse. They are most often short-term groups organized around an interest, topic or activity. They provide opportunities to deepen friendships that launch us into "bearing one another's burdens." They include:

Family Room

Growing Deeper

In the family room we are able to let down our guard and be ourselves with a few people we trust. These people rejoice with us when we rejoice, grieve with us when we grieve, and have earned the right to challenge us to be all that God desires.

Family room groups are built around relationships that strengthen one another toward Christ-likeness. They typically stay together for at least nine months and frequently longer as it takes time to build the level of trust necessary to be authentic with a group of people. Family room groups often include elements of study, serving, and activity together.

Kitchen

Serving Together

If you are like my family, all rooms lead to the kitchen. That is what it is supposed to be like in the kingdom of God as well. The kitchen is a place to serve. Jesus made it clear that when we save our lives for ourselves it slips through our fingers, but when we give our lives away in service to him and others we find real life. God intends for you to be a minister and there are many opportunities both inside and outside the walls of the church.
